1B - Singing three phrases

In this test, listen to the music and sing each phrase back.

When you sing, be sure to copy the rhythm as well as the notes so that it sounds like an echo.

Keep in time with the steady pulse too - it really helps to listen to the count-in at the start.

Advice for singing:

  • The key chord and the starting note are played first - listen carefully as the first phrase always begins on the key-note and the last phrase always ends on it.
  • Some people can sing wider range of notes than others, but the tunes at this grade cover only a narrow range.
  • It is much easier to sing if you open your mouth quite wide and start with a sound like 'dah' or 'lah'.
